 ...German Nationals Aachen 2015.....

Not for the first time, Sax Arabians stood out as the most successful exhibitor of the show, but in this case, it was even more of a triumph than usual. There have been few occasions (if any) when gold titles have been won by father and son in one show.

Sax Arabians managed this unusual feat with their 7 year old stallion MARSHAN and his weanling son, ELSHAAN, winning Gold Senior Champion Stallion and Gold Champion foal.

Truly a wonderful achievement for any breeder, especially since MARSHAN´S parents MESHAN IBN KUBINEC and MARNI are themselves homebred, as are the foal´s dam and both her parents. And that wasn´t all of it either.

Those who followed the foal classes may have noticed an unassuming black mare being led in, accompanied by a pretty blood-bay filly.

Well, this mare was none other than MARSHAN´S dam MARNI, and the filly was his full sister MALALA, who also won her class and was named Bronze-Champion Foal! MARNI really deserved a special prize for the most successful broodmare of the show.

The breeding is mostly Russian. MESHAN IBN KUBINEC is straight Russian, while MARNI is by the U.S.-bred WINDSPREES MIRAGE, of Egyptian/American breeding tracing to THEE DESPERADO, FERCON and BEY SHAH, out of MARAKOVKA, who is also straight Russian.
You definitely see the Russian influence: MARSHAN, his sister and his son all appear to be made from the same mold, brilliant bays with loads of personality, movement to burn and the biggest, blackest eyes you could possibly ask for.

(Thank you Betty Finke!)
